Ducharme-Jones

Ducharme-Jones/Vagabonds & Poets (2019)

Ducharme-Jones are both Iowa Natives who moved to San Francisco and later migrated to Austin, Texas before finding their way back to the midwest. Many of the songs on Ducharme-Jones/Vagabonds & Poets are heart-felt recollections of times spent together pursuing music and the search for satisfaction in the artistic process. Their song 'Beautiful On You' describes the challenges of coming off the road and reintegrating back into home life before having to take off again, 'California' recalls their move to the west coast as teens and making their way, and 'Thrift Store Dresses' identifies some of their fears and feelings about leaving Austin to return to their roots in the midwest. Each song on the record has a little piece of Ducharme-Jones history and heart, and like their first album, is full of melodic guitar and warm harmonies. When asked about the process of creating this album, Dave notes "it definitely felt a little different from our first record because now we've been creating with each other for awhile and we've been playing so much with our band here that it just felt really natural in the studio."

Ducharme-Jones live performances are dynamic, engaging, and feature talent from the Des Moines area known for their musicality. Dave Ducharme-Jones leads the band (lead guitar, led vocals, harmonies) with co-writer and co-producer Anne Ducharme-Jones (lead vocals, harmonies, and rhythm guitar), and band members Scot Sutherland (bass guitar), Jim Stevens (drums and percussion), and Al Kabela (pedal steel and harmonies).Catch a rootsy performance and it will include many of their own songs, along with their version of some of their favorite covers, including, but not limited to Lucinda Williams, Gov't Mule, Jimi Hendrix, Little Feat, Linda Ronstadt or Dolly Parton.  Their love of multiple genre's keeps their setlist dynamic and interesting.

About their 2016 CD:

(Austin, TX)  Ducharme-Jones, Strangest Things (2016) showcases a collection of thirteen songs tied together by soulful vocals, sophisticated and melodic guitar, and rootsy arrangements.  Ducharme-Jones' debut album features the songwriting and performances by Dave Ducharme-Jones and wife and bandmate Annie Ducharme-Jones, longtime residents of Austin, Texas.  The couple began co-writing their recent release following Dave’s solo releases Weeds (2009) and A LOUD Guitar (2012), as Annie moved into more songwriting and shared lead vocals.  Opening track 'Red Roses' is an uptempo original with rock and country roots; 'Crazy Heart' is definitely a country rocker; 'Two Satellites' is an auto-biographical story of the couples first date, and 'Of The Water' is a moody, introspective ballad featuring Dave's warm vocals and Annie's harmonies in an understated arrangement. 'Beside You Now' and 'A Little Bit of Luck' are carefully crafted love songs meant to tug on your heartstrings.  Each song on the record has it’s own story and personality for the listener to appreciate. Ducharme-Jones, Strangest Things will appeal to listeners with an appreciation for an Americana Genre, upbeat lyrical songwriting with a little hook, and Dave’s signature guitar style with influences from rock, modern country, blues and roots.
